Affinity Resin of Nickel or Cobalt is a durable immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC) resin that has a remarkable affinity and specificity for polyhistidine-tagged proteins. Our Resin is compatible with all commonly used IMAC reagents and allows protein purification under native or denaturing conditions. The Resin can be used in a variety of formats, including gravity-flow columns and small- or large-scale batches.
The Metal Affinity Resin uses Nickel or Cobalt ions for purifying recombinant polyhistidine-tagged proteins and reactive core, containing nickel or cobalt, has strict requirements for the spatial positioning of histidines. Only adjacent histidines or specially positioned, neighboring histidines are able to bind the Nickel or Cobalt in this reactive core. The nickel-based resins (i.e., Ni-NTA Resin), the spatial requirements are less strict. Therefore, nickel-based resins are also able to bind histidines located in places other than the protein’s polyhistidine tag.
Glutathione Resin is a new affinity chromatography material to purify Glutathione binding proteins such as Glutathione S-Transferase (GST). It is optimized for medium to large scale protein isolation from prokaryotic or eukaryotic, for example insect cells using a low-pressure, gravity-flow or batch procedure. The high affinity and specificity of the GST - Glutathione interaction enables a very fast and efficient purification of native proteins.
